Ups and downs

The Good:
At about 12:45 the IOC announced that the 30th Olypiad in 2012 will be in London! Most of the people in the office are pleased - save for that fact that we'll be paying for it - but it'll be interesting to see the reaction of the non-Brit contingent (about a quarter of the office).

The Bad
About 20 minutes after the IOC announcement, I got some really bad news about an associate of mine - I'm not going to put up the details just yet but will as soon as I'm able - which brought a crashing reversal in mood.
